This feels so demoralizing.

No specific questions today, just wanted to vent. And maybe somebody will have a suggestion or two.

So first off, is it just me or is the entire process of iOS app store submission ridiculously (and unnecessarily) overcomplicated? Maybe I'm just getting too old for this1

After overcoming all of the programming obstacles and learning a completely new language and a completely new dev framework and a ton of intricacies regarding game development and game theory and even human psychology, I find myself about ready to throw in the towel just trying to figure out how to get a (non-XCode) app packaged and submitted so that I can start TestFlight with a larger group of iOS testers.

That's it.

Just venting.

If anyone has a good guide (online? book?) on this particular topic please share. Or if you personally have great experience with this aspect of the process and would like to send me a quote for an hour or two of your time on telephone/shared screen consulting, lemme know.

Because at least for the remainder of the day, I'm gonna stop banging my head against the wall.

===============================

(NEVER!)

Apple does make devs jump through MANY hoops and it is undeniably very cumbersome to get your first app uploaded and approved. Unfortunately I won't have the time (not soon anyway) to guide you through the process but I'd be quite happy to post back if you could identify some specific aspects in the process that you're having a hard time with.

Some details on how far you've got will also help-- do you have a .app file? Are you struggling with provisioning profiles etc?

Once you go through the process once, it becomes easier for subsequent builds/ apps.

I'm sure there are many dozens developers here like me who are quite familiar with the process so if you can consolidate some of your problems and post them, you can certainly expect to get some guidance.

Did you try any walkthroughs on youtube?

Thanks for the response. Yes, tried some vids, but most seem to be for working on it through xcode and apps made in xcode.

I'll sleep on it and attack it again in the morning, and if I don't get any further will share more details as you requested.

Thanks!

Thanks. It's a new morning, and my brain is a little fresher, so I'm going to attack it again here in a bit.   :)

I've found that the Apple hoops get easier to navigate each time but they sure were frustrating in the beginning!  Good luck with you fresh new day, I'm about spent for today. . . ;)

Thanks for the encouragement.  I know my message was a bit dramatic, but I heard what I needed to hear, which is "It's not just me"

It's definitely not you!
I've put over a dozen cross-platform apps on both the playstore and appstore and it's always apple I have the most trouble with, luckily my clients have been quite understanding.

Apple can be unreasonable at times where as google aren't bothered... I'm not going to get into details right now but one time we was forced to distribute an app via their 'Volume Purchase Business Program' just because the app used an 'invite code'.
It took weeks to sort out - Google had it up within 2 hours with no fuss.
