Can anyone please list the costs associated with releasing a game using corona.

Please exclude the annual ios and android developer licenses and also game development costs.

I am referring to cost of corona :

  • I think there is a 99 dollar fees to remove the loading splash screen of corona and replace with one for the game?

Please advise. Thanks.

As @anaqim said, Corona is completely free to use and create games with. The 99$/year Splash Screen Control plugin and any other marketplace related content are 100% optional.

After the fees you mentioned, there are no costs except perhaps for your internet connection and devices to test on.

Corona is free, and you can find a free tool to fit any need:

  • Audacity for sound tweaking
  • Bfxr/Sfxr for sound generation (and there are many other free tools)
  • Gimp for texture editing.
  • Shoe Box or Free Texture Packer or Leshy Sprite Tool for texture packing and my code to make that work for free.
  • ... the list goes on

New developers today have it very easy.

This is interesting : "The 99$/year Splash Screen Control plugin and any other marketplace related content are 100% optional.". My understanding was it is mandatory to pay this annually to remove the corona splash ad screen for publishing game.

No.  You can publish all your games and leave the Corona splash screen in.

You only need to pay that if you want to remove the splash screen.

Thanks! I was thinking if the app store will allow me to publish with corona splash screen, don't they expect me to give a game splash screen? I could be wrong.

There's thousands of Corona games out there with the Corona splash screen. And hundreds of thousands with the Unity splash screen. It's not a problem.

Oh come on! You've played games or watched movies before, right? :P

Think of the gazillion of certifications, logos or texts that pop up before the actual group that made the game or movie comes up. Stuff like: "The Way It's Meant to be Played by NVIDIA", or "Runs Great On Intel®", etc. or you have the stuff like "Battlefield V, Published by EA, Developed by DICE", etc. etc.

Now, with movies, it'd be wrong if I didn't mention this piece of horror with its 5 minutes of intro texts  :D

But seriously, I doubt any app store would care if you had a 5 minutes of intro before the app starts, but the users might. :P

Questions are rarely stupid, and we all improve from asking them, so no need to apologise about such things :D
I just have to make some lighthearted humour for myself when I can to keep sane-ish :D

What? I was born with all the answers! But, on another note, I'd appreciate it if anyone could solve this issue coming from an unrelated person https://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/74908-how-to-remove-a-table-via-a-reference/ (that's right! I'm rerouting this thread towards lua tables! :D)
