I just released Version 2.0 of Tappy Easter.

What is interesting (to some) is that Version 2.0 was re-written using Corona.  Version 1.0 was written with "some other game development platform".  ;)

iOS Store

Google Play Store

For those interested in the technical hurdles of developing this game 2 times, I blogged about it.

This isn't much yet, but I'm currently working on a Lights Out clone. Started last weekend with the expectation it'd only take an hour or so to make, and returned to it today again with the expectation I'd be finishing it. Turns out not being, or working with, a designer makes for slow progress...

Definitely need to set playback to 1080p for this one to be worth watching, and the 1080p variant doesn't seem to have fully propagated across YouTube yet. If you can only view in low quality, try not to judge too harshly, ha!

Would it be too spammy if I posted something every Saturday?  B)

Nope.   I like seeing how things progress with time.

No, please keep posting.  I love seeing what everyone is up to!  @richard11 - Argentauria a game or a plugin?

Great 😁

Argentauria is an MMORPG we've been meaning to build for years - it's one of two games that Qiso was built for. If you do a whois against argentauria.com or look up the Facebook page, you'll see a 2016 registration date! As if that's not ridiculous enough, it's actually something I've personally been dipping into every now and again since 2001... Definitely time to stop saying "soon" and just crack on with it, so I'm using screenshotsaturday as motivation. This is going to be a LONG build but if I can have some kind of update ready each Saturday, eventually it'll be a game.

I'll post real details later, as a separate post. Until then I feel there's some value in keeping things a little secretive... Letting the screenshots speak for themselves 😏.

We wanted hills in Argentauria so Qiso is getting altitude support, allowing characters to move up and down them properly. More on that later, but for #screenshotsaturday, here's some experimenting =).

That reminds me of Zarch on the Archimedes.

Zarch looks amazing for an '87 game. Similar in fact, to an engine I was building in 2012, 25 years later. Here are a couple of old screenshots of that... not built in Corona, sorry, but ref my previous comment about "dipping into every now and again since 2001", you could say this eventually evolved into Qiso and Argentauria so it's at least somewhat related to the Corona screens I've been posting...

It's difficult to show progress in the form of a screenshot at the moment, but...

Most of the tiles have been re-rendered and the tilemaps are now more efficiently thought out. For example, previously those mud tiles were the only cubic renders so grass/sand had to be layered over the top, resulting in quite a few mud sprites hidden behind the rest of the world just wasting rendering time. The new maps include cubic sand and grass tiles so now all tiles can be given an appropriate base.

The water tiles hopefully look better now too. They were just a bit too dark before.

More excitingly, Qiso now has altitude support and its camera follow mode has been rewritten completely, to be more efficient, smoother, and to support characters moving up/down hills. We're not quite ready to release the new functionality but I'll try to post a video tomorrow.

Argentauria has an Instagram now too. Moving forwards we'll likely post there more often than to this thread - it's for Saturday only after all! - so please do follow https://www.instagram.com/argentauria/ =).

I love subtleties and the water rising and falling is a great touch.  I know you guys have extensive web dev experience.  Will you be managing all of the back-end of the MMORPG yourselves?  Let me know when you need play testers.

We will, yes. Actually, the plan is to build at least some of the back end necessities as standalone systems that might be useful to other developers. In-game-chat for example, will most likely be built as a service with a Corona plugin so that you can add chat to a game without needing to run your own servers, but I'm not yet sure how we'll be pricing that and to be honest, it's not something we'll be working on any time soon.
