Graffiti Particle System is ready for beta testing anyone interested please email at [graffitiPS][@][gmail].[com] i'll be choosing 5 people for beta testing

hey all i've been working on a particle system to use with corona. its not as advanced as particle candy and maybe never will be but if you just needing simple and cheap this is it. multiple particle fx in different groups running separate or together. use custom images, images from spritegrabber, works with director and scenemanager, circles, squares, and text. want a simple way to have points float in any direction after a collision, clouds floating by, complete random explosions, random size and/or color bubbles floating up, directional rain, falling snow this will have you covered
create smoke, clouds, bubbles, explosions, and a whole lot more
heres a video i threw together showing a few thing
-- original video
-- game using Graffiti PS
-- new video changed SpriteGrabber image to raindrops
-- another game using Graffiti
-- last preBeta Video

Graffiti is about 95% complete and will begin beta testing soon with a release of 1.0 a few weeks later provided nothing major pops up during beta testing.

here's another video of the Graffiti Particle System running in a real game.

successfully integrated into a game that was not created by me
seams very simple to me
just add a particle definition file, the graffiti file, and one line of code in your project for each particle you want

Graffiti PS test results

device -- iPhone 3gs
time -- over 8 hours straight
particles -- 6 different all at same time running non stop (well over 10,000+ particles(vector objects, images, text, & spritesheet images))

results -- no signs of slowing down or crashing

got a few last minute features to add today

just curious as to why the free version is more or less obfuscated.

It seems like it may be a deterrent for others to modify or re-release the code.. however it's also a huge deterrent to me for using it in the first place.

I have a personal rule to not use any code in my projects that I can't read and understand, plus it seems counterproductive, since it eliminates any possibility of others improving upon it.

my .02

I understand your concern and your
position but let me explain my position

the particle system is meant to be as a free addon not free code as there is a pay for version that will be released before long. now if you had readable code why would you buy the full version vs just adding to the free code. I understand that it could still be done but corona doesn't offer any other way to protect an addon feature that someone wanted to sale to other members. this is one of the reasons I think particle candy is so expensive.

Is there still being work done on this? The website still says "coming soon". It seems like an awesome lightweight alternative to Particle Candy. I find PC to clunky, and this would be perfect.

@naveen
yes its still coming. im doing a complete rewrite for the pro version which will give more control and a better path for upgrades. at the moment i would say the code is about 70% complete but between me moving, a ton of work, and some other projects of my own its taking a bit longer. maybe by the end of the month ill have something to show. trust me it will be worth the wait i believe
